Thought I'd post this to show what I've been working on for my first solid apprentice piece. This is my first real serious Princess Leia. Drawn on Strathmore- 400 Artagain-slate blue paper with General's pastel chalk pencils. I've never work with this medium before so I'm a little nervous every time I put pencil to paper, for fear that I might ruin this piece. So far I'm happy with it, but knowing me I won't be tomorrow.

What can I say, I'm never truely happy with my own work. I've been coming to terms with that knowledge and letting my husband and other friends be the judge on my art. So what do you think. . . ? You think anyone with a spare $2000 laying around might want to throw it at me to own this? Yeah I know, if I had a spare $2000 laying around I wouldn't be spending it on my art, I'd be spending it on other artists work.
I did actually start two paintings with
WIP-Keith Urban in acrylics but they've been put on hold until another time, as my teacher thinks I need to practice blending and mixing colors before we get back into the acrylics. I have to say that I do like the way these General's pencils work. They blend and mix fairly easily. For instance I had no brown to speak of for doing Leia's eyes and I think that they turned out quite nice. Just goes to show what a little red and green combined looks like.
Right now the left eye and her ear are my favorite parts to this piece. I think in total hours so far it's taken about four to get it to this point. We'll see what happens to it tomorrow when I start working on it agian. Keep your fingerscrossed and wish me luck.
UPDATE: I do not allow my work to be posted elsewhere (outside of the DA) without permission!
