Description

Luke couldn’t stop himself, he walked up to Lana and asked if she was alright.
She abruptly wiped at her face and irritably asked, “What are you doing in here?”
“I couldn’t sleep, so I thought I’d come for a little walk. What about you?”
“I needed some time to myself, to clear my head,” she explained with a hint of sorrow in her bitter voice.
“Would you like me to leave you alone?”
Too his surprise and hers she said no.
Luke remained silent, waiting for her to face him. When she didn’t, he stooped down and picked up some smooth stones and began skipping them across the lake. He felt Lana turn her focus on the lake. He continued to toss stone after stone across the water's surface until he ran out. Then he scooped up a few more and turned to Lana, offering her one.
She took it and moodily threw it into the lake. The hollow sound the stone made as it hit the water reflected her disposition. Heavy emotional tears were once again in her eyes. She angrily took the second stone he offered and threw that one too. It seemed to relieve some of her tension.
Luke, feeling that he stumbled onto a way to relieve her mood, continued supplying her with stones. She heatedly threw each one into the lake until he ran out. He raised up two small handfuls with the Force. One for her and the other for himself.
They stood on the lakeside throwing stone after stone into the lake until they ran out.
Before Luke could raise up another handful Lana stopped him with her angry question.
“Why did they have to die? Why did he leave me?” She wasn’t looking at him when she intemperately asked, "Please tell me why am I here and they’re not?”
“I don’t know,” Luke said quietly. “Except to say that Terell was right, it wasn’t your time.”
His sympathetic answer was not what she wanted to hear. It did little to quell her anger. Tears rush back into her eyes as her brow crease under the weight of her survivor guilt.
“It should have been,” she intoned bitterly. “It would have been if he hadn’t. . . God! He was safe! Why did he have to do it? . . .Why?
Luke met her tearful heated and questioning stare when she turned imploringly to him.
Why? Please just tell me why.
Luke gazed at her for a moment in silence, wishing that he could magically take her painful grief away. Finally not knowing what to say to ease her mind he gave her the most honest answer in his heart.
“He loved you. I’d have done the same thing were I in his place,” he confessed softly.
Lana blinked at this. His heartfelt answer stalled her anger in an instant and she stared at him, not knowing what to say next. Feeling too exposed suddenly, she turned from him.
Luke returned his attention onto the lake, respectfully giving her some time to herself. He tossed the last stone in his hand out over the water and watched it skip across the surface until it disappeared.
His calm compassionate presence was soothing to Lana. She sniffed, wiped at her eyes and made an excuse for her appearance, “I had a dream about Ter--” She paused, staring out at the ripples his stone had caused in the water, then amended her excuse, “--about them.”

This is finally something that was done recently.:excited: Like within the last couple of days!!!:XD: For once my muse stayed for more than a few minutes and this line art illustration for CP-2; Where lays the heart of a hero is the fruits of my labors. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this one. For now it is just line art that may or may not be finished in color or graphite. We'll see when the muse strikes me again, which way it goes.

I'm really happy with Luke's expression.
